  • Won a cancellation of removal trial for a lawful permanent resident who travelled out of the country for his parent’s funeral after suffering a drug conviction years before.
  • Won a cancellation of removal trial for a lawful permanent resident originally convicted of methamphetamine sales, allowing him to remain in the U.S. with his wife and two children.
  • Won a cancellation of removal trial for a lawful permanent resident with over 10 criminal convictions, allowing him to remain in the United States.
  • Won a cancellation of removal trial for a lawful permanent resident with over 10 convictions and over 30 arrests, allowing him to remain in the United States with his wife and children.
  • Won a cancellation of removal trial for a lawful permanent resident who served a year on a burglary conviction after having sentence reduced by a day after the fact.
  • Following a bail hearing, obtained a bail bond for a client convicted of an aggravated felony but who wasn’t picked up by ICE for 10 years.
  • Following a bail hearing, obtained a bail bond for a client arrested 4 times for domestic violence against the same alleged victim.
  • Filed a motion and was granted administrative closure for a client in removal proceedings with multiple criminal convictions so he can apply for a I-601A provisional waiver.
  • Obtained a certificate of citizenship for a client that the Department of Homeland Security was trying to deport, establishing he was a U.S. citizen even though he didn’t know it.
  • Helped numerous spouses of United States citizens to obtain lawful permanent residence (“green cards”).
  • Obtained a green card for a woman who divorced her U.S. citizen spouse within 2 years of marrying him.
  • Successfully argued that a felony stalking conviction with significant prison time was not an aggravated felony, allowing the client to apply for cancellation of removal
  • Volunteer monthly to represent clients in San Francisco’s immigration court, including the recent wave of unaccompanied minors and families fleeing Central America.

 

MISCELLANEOUS:

  • Defeated a request for a restraining order, obtaining one against the party who requested it
  • Won a petition for factual innocence for a client who was falsely arrested for domestic violence
  • Won a TRO hearing, terminating all visits for the mother of child and ultimaely allowing the step mother to adopt the child
  • Successfully resolved numerous civil lawsuits with liability arising out of embezzlement
  • Successfully defended against a TRO where there were allegations of sexual abuse of a minor
  • Successfully negotiated a civil settlement where a client was accused of bullying, where the client paid nothing
